The Tenth Convocation and Ruby Anniversary Conference on Chemical Education and Research for Industrial Development & Sustainable Growth in a Knowledge Based Economy were held on the 3rd & 4th April. The Chief Guest was Professor Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS, Former Federal Minister of Education/Science & Technology in Pakistan who was admitted as an Honorary Fellow by the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. Guests of Honour were Professor Andy Hor (President, Federation of Asian Chemical Societies) and Professor Lars Bohlin (Uppsala University, Sweden). The conference was followed by Plenary Lectures and Parallel Sessions on Tertiary Education, Secondary Education, Applied Chemistry Research, Natural Products and Distance Education & Online Learning. Over 100 papers were read at these sessions on 3rd and 4th April at Waters’ Edge, Capital City & Adamantane House respectively. The conference also included a symposium on “New Developments in Chemical Education” and a Workshop on “Atomic Orbitals”.
