“Hakuna Matata” – this phrase reminds us that at the College of Chemical Sciences (CCS), of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (ICHEMC) is one vivacious girl whose charm and sparkle you cannot miss if you ever happen to come across her at the College!

She is Samadhi Nawalage, a proud product of Lyceum International School – Nugegoda, who is an extremely talented and popular student at the College. Right from her schooling days, she was a balanced student who, in addition to being a top academic performer was also a senior prefect, as well as an active student in all the school events. She involved herself in many extra-curricular activities, such as drama, speech, singing, and dancing, in all of which she excelled with flying colors.

Currently, she is in her second year as an undergraduate following the Graduateship Programme in Chemistry at the CCS of ICHEMC. As in school, she is now involved in many co-curricular activities such as singing, debating and speech; she is also an active member of the Rotract Club and the Gavel Club. In the meanwhile, she continues to maintain an excellent academic record as well.

She was in her first year when she took part in the “Speech Master 2015” which is an all-island public speaking contest organized by the Gavel Club of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura  Her excellent performance gave her the “Runners-up” award from amongst the hundreds of competing speakers representing all the universities from all over Sri Lanka. Her speech was titled as “Hakuna Matata – No Worries” which was inspired by the world famous movie “The Lion King” and it was truly inspirational, especially due to the different dimension to the way of life it depicted.  It was indeed a great achievement that brought in many accolades from the lecturers, staff and fellow colleagues at College.

Thanks to her friendly nature and charming smile, which she always carries with her, she has become a popular character at the College who is loved by all.  Even with her numerous extraordinary achievements, she continues to be the humble and ever-so-charming Samadhi that we all know of and it is this above all else that makes her a real achiever!

We are proud of you, Samadhi
