The Institute of Chemistry was honored to have successfully produced their 33rd Batch of Graduate Chemists and 41st Batch of DLTC Diplomates. The twelfth convocation of the College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon was held on the 27th of January 2016 at Eagles Lakeside Banquet & Convention Centre.
97 Graduate Chemists, 3 Advance Diplomates, 1 Licentiate Chemist and 107 DLTC Diplomates were awarded with medals and certificates from the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively. The Chief Guest for the event was Professor Colvin Goonaratna, Chancellor of the Open University of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Clinical Trials Registry, and Registrar of Ceylon Medical College Council, who delivered the convocation address on the title “Professionalism”. Professor Veranjan Karunaratna was the Guest of Honor. He is the Senior Professor of Chemistry of University of Peradeniya and Associate Director of Science & Strategic Relations of Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology.
The Institute proudly announces that it has so far produced 1171 Chemistry Graduates and 1130 Chemistry Diplomates and is the largest producer of Graduate Chemists in Sri Lanka. 38th intake of students was formally inaugurated on the 2nd January 2016. The demand for both courses has increased during the recent years due to their high quality.
